Elce
The residential area of Elce is made up of both modern and nineteenth-century buildings. A house built in stone in the second half of the 18th century, it houses a large fireplace with traditional shapes and decorated with angel faces and a male head in the centre, dated 1837. The recently restored church of S. Lorenzo has been rebuilt on the site of an old destroyed church. Inside, on the altar, there is a painting on canvas created by Maestro Mario Bianchi in 1992 during the restoration commissioned by the Pro Loco. The sacristy preserves an octagonal baptismal font on a Baroque shaped foot. Near Elce, there are also the ruins of other churches such as S. Angelo and S. Martino. In the second half of the 12th century, near Elce di Roseto there was a villa of Poleciano which was destroyed. The town is divided by a natural ditch and the two parts are referred to as Elce di qua and Elce di la, where a church dedicated to S. Carlo once stood.
The feast of the Patron Saint, S. Lorenzo, is celebrated on August 10th.
