The residential area of Caiano is made up of mainly nineteenth-century stone houses, with some dating back to the seventeenth century. The small church of S. Donato, recently renovated, is a point of reference for the small town. In 1900, the inhabitants were considered wealthy thanks to their livestock farming and the old mill on the Tordino river which produced a very renowned flour. Some portals are adorned with decorations with stylized plant elements. The name of the place, which derives from Cajus, indicates an ancient presence.
The feast of the patron saint, S. Donato, is celebrated on July 17th, although in the past it was celebrated on September 6th.
