In the Abetina of Cortino
Starting from the center of Cortino, take the road that leads to Crognaleto. After passing a bend to the left, you arrive at the beginning of the dirt road to Fonte Spugna, which is marked by a sign. Opposite the dirt road there is an asphalt road that descends towards the Forestry Corps barracks and the town. Those coming from Crognaleto and from state road 80 do not need to reach the town, but can simply turn left onto the dirt road.
The route winds through some curves and runs alongside the fence of the roe deer wildlife area, leading to the Fonte Spugna square, which is located at 1180 meters and 1 km from the asphalt, and is the entrance to Abetina. If you choose to start the walk from the asphalt, it will take 0.15 hours more both on the way there and on the way back. On foot, follow the wide path that starts next to the source and heads towards the most fascinating area of Abetina di Cortino. The route, marked by red-white trail signs and eye-catching orange signs, runs alongside the fence of the wildlife area, rises with some curves, passes some rock formations and leaves a waterfall on the right. When the path becomes flat, you need to leave the orange signs (which go up to the left) and go down to the right towards an unnamed spring on the map. A final stretch halfway up the hill leads to a dirt road which you follow downhill to the right, exiting onto the pastures "worked" by the wild boars of the Prati di Lame (1364 metres), which can be an excellent conclusion to the walk. In total, it takes 1 hour to go to and from this point. The dirt road that continues back into the woods allows you to continue towards Colle Micedi and the pastures of Monte Bilanciere. If you want to reach this peak (1263 meters), it takes 45 minutes both there and back.
