Church of Sant'Antonio

Nelle stradine ben tenute e ordinate di Padula, tra le case costruite con pietra fissata a malta e qualche antico passaggio a volta, si trova la Chiesa di San Antonio risalente Seicento. Costruita nel 1649, la chiesa ha una copertura a capanna e un piccolo campanile a vela in facciata che sorregge una campana. Il semplice portale è incorniciato in pietra e si raggiunge salendo un'ampia scala di sei gradini. Sopra l'architrave, una lapide con un'epigrafe appena leggibile riporta l'iscrizione "Questa cappella l'hanno fatta fare Giopuf..iso e Pietro - 1649 - Fede". Ai lati del portale ci sono due piccole finestre quadrate incorniciate in pietra e sopra di esso una finestra rotonda dà grazia alla facciata. Sulla facciata, una moderna lapide rende omaggio ai figli di Padula caduti in guerra per la Patria. L'interno della chiesa, sobrio ed essenziale, è ad aula unica e su due mensole dietro l'altare ci sono le statuette della Madonna e di San Antonio che accolgono la devozione dei fedeli. Il soffitto ha capriate e travature in legno a vista. All'ingresso del paese, si può ammirare la Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta del Quattrocento, elevata a "Santuario della Madonna dei Monti della Laga" nel 1988.

In the well-kept and tidy streets of Padula, among the houses built with mortared stone and some ancient vaulted passages, there is the Church of San Antonio dating back to the seventeenth century. Built in 1649, the church has a gabled roof and a small bell tower on the facade which supports a bell. The simple portal is framed in stone and can be reached by climbing a wide staircase of six steps. Above the architrave, a plaque with a barely legible epigraph bears the inscription "Questa cappella l'hanno fatta fare Giopuf..iso e Pietro - 1649 - Fede". On the sides of the portal there are two small square windows framed in stone and above it a round window gives grace to the facade. On the facade, a modern plaque pays homage to the sons of Padula who died in the war for their homeland. The interior of the church, sober and essential, has a single hall and on two shelves behind the altar there are statuettes of the Madonna and San Antonio which welcome the devotion of the faithful. The ceiling has exposed wooden trusses and beams. At the entrance to the town, you can admire the fifteenth-century Church of Santa Maria Assunta, elevated to the "Santuario della Madonna dei Monti della Laga" in 1988.
